According to her, she hasn't spoken to him for months and he blocked her on every social media platform only for him to be typing 'paragraphs for the gram'.
Charly boy in an earlier post said, 'now I reactivate my fight in defence of the LGBT community. You know something? Openness may not completely disarm prejudice but is a good place to start. I am hoping that my support will be a show of strength to the Nigerian LGBT community'.
JAMB remits N7.8bn as examination surplus
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has remitted another N7.8 billion to the Federal Government.
The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known on Sunday in Lagos. According to him, the board has planned to remit the amount as surplus to the Federal Government as was done in 2017.
Benjamin said that the amount was the surplus generated from the conduct of the board’s 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). “However, government in its magnanimity, graciously directed that we remit about N5.6 billion and use the balance for restructuring of the board’s headquarters to meet up with its international status. “We, therefore, want to appreciate the governing board of JAMB led by Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe for the tremendous support in ensuring that the current administration’s vision of transparency and accountability as fully embraced by JAMB is sustained. “The Ndukwe-led board had, within its short period of inauguration, contributed immensely in some ground breaking innovations. “One of such innovations is the quick remittance of the 2018 surplus.
Whatever candidates pay for JAMB’s examination is a trust and must be accounted for. “The board, though not a revenue generating agency, will continue to be judicious with resources at its disposal,” he said.
Benjamin said that cumulatively and technically, the board had remitted a total of N15.6 billion in less than two years. “The board is thinking of how to ensure that candidates benefitted from the surplus. “We are currently looking at a number of ways to enhance the conduct of the examination where candidates will benefit by way of conducive environment in writing the examination. “We are also looking at putting more mechanism in place that will ensure absolute equity and fairness in the selection of candidates through enhanced technology as currently being done by the Central Admission Process Selection (CAPS),” he said.
Benjamin said that the board was set to acquire cutting edge technology to give candidates the best registration procedure, examination and a more improved selection process. He said the development was similar to the one that was currently being developed by the CAPS initiative. Benjamin lauded the efforts of members of staff of the board, as well as other key stakeholders, for their doggedness, commitment and support in ensuring that integrity of the board and its examination was sustained. PDP rebranding, to change name
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to change its name, a rebranding measure ahead of 2019 general election.
PDP leaders at the rally in Katsina ThisDay reported that the party had suffered a string of losses in the last four governorship elections – Edo, Ondo, Anambra and Ekiti. The newspaper reported that the decision of the party for a change of name was taken on Saturday night.
The party noted that the move was pre-emptive to prevent the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from tagging it as corrupt. PDP, which planned to announce the decision to change its name, had also pencilled down Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu as the one to head a committee that would walk the party through the procedure. Many of the party’s stalwarts have been worried by how the ruling APC had successfully branded the party as corrupt in the eyes of Nigerians and admitted that, a rebranding was imperative to mount a successful challenge in 2019.
PDP had become damaged goods that must be changed to give the party a fresh start. The decision by the PDP to change its name might have stemmed from last Thursday’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Senate President Bukola Saraki. Though, details of their discussion were not made public, many in PDP believed that with such sessions, the chances of bringing Saraki back to the PDP could be hampered.
The opposition party had long mooted the idea of name change, but had slowed down on the decision because a majority of its members were not disposed to it, and those who wanted it could not convince the others. Besides, it was thought that even though the party had switched positions and had become an opposition party, PDP was still the only party with membership in the remotest parts of the country, and the name resonated with a majority of its members and admirers, particularly among the teeming illiterate populations. FG evacuates 230 stranded Nigerians in Russia, Friday
The Ministry’s Spokesperson, Dr Tope Elias-Fatile, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja said over 230 stranded Nigerians had been cleared to board an Ethiopian Airline flight to Abuja on Friday. He said that the development was sequel to Mr President’s directive that stranded Nigerians in Russia be evacuated with immediate effect.
According to him, the Ministry and Nigerian mission in Moscow in collaboration with the Ministry of Aviation have been monitoring the process of the evacuation. ”As at the last count, over 230 stranded Nigerians had been cleared to board an Ethiopian Airline flight to Abuja. ”The aircraft would depart Domodedovo Airport in Moscow with the stranded Nigerians at 08.30 hours Friday, July, 20th and arrive Abuja at 16.00 hours same day,” he said.
He noted that over 150 stranded Nigerians were among the fans who travelled to the Russian Federation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament that besieged the Embassy of Nigeria in Moscow on July 12th. The fans according to him, were stranded after the events due to lack of funds for their upkeep as well as allegation that some airline travel agents cancelled return tickets of their customers without their knowledge. ”Consequently, the Mission submitted a formal complaint to host authorities against the airlines that brought the stranded Nigerians to the Russian Federation. ”The Mission also made arrangements for the feeding and accommodation of the stranded Nigerians in hostels around Moscow,” he said.
He noted that President Mohammadu Buhari had on July 16 directed the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Aviation to evacuate the Nigerians to Abuja immediately. Fatile said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to monitor the evacuation process and keep the public informed. (NAN)

Fresh Congresses : Imo APC, stakeholders move to stop Oshiomhole, others
In a bid to stop the party from invalidating the primaries earlier conducted in the state, the Imo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress and stakeholders in the state have filed an appeal against the party’s national chairman and the National Working Committee.
Secretary to the Government of the federation, Mr. Boss Gida Mustapha, Governor Rochas Okorocha, Governor Abdullahi Gandunje (Kano State) and former National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Modu Sheriff at the mega Rally of South-East APC at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. The state chapter and the stakeholders contended last night that the appeal filed against the holding of fresh congress had already been served on both Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the national leadership of the party and warned them of the legal implications of going ahead with the fresh congresses slated for tomorrow/today.
In a letter addressed to the party’s national chairman by K. C. Nwufo (SAN) on behalf of APC’s stakeholders in the state, they warned that it would be contemptuous of the court for any congress to be held in Imo State or appointing any caretaker committee during the pendency of a motion on notice for interlocutory injunction pending the determination of the appeal against the judgement in suit no. FHC/OW/CS/69/2018.
It will be recalled that relying on the judgement of the Federal High Court dated July 6, 2018, which ordered fresh congresses in Imo State chapter of the party, the national secretariat of APC had scheduled to commence the congress tomorrow. But informing the party of the pendency of appeal against the judgement, Barrister Nwufo (SAN) informed the national leadership of APC that it is a settled matter by the Supreme Court that ‘’after the defendant has been notified of the pendency of a matter seeking an injunction, even though a temporary injunction be not granted, he acts at his peril and subject to the power of court to restore the status wholly irrespective of the merits as they may be ultimately decided.’’ The lawyer explained that once a suit seeking an injunction is pending in court, anybody who acts contrary to it is doing so at his own peril, as he is liable to be committed to prison for contempt of court.
He said, “Since we believe that we are in a democratic dispensation, we shall allow the rule of law to prevail. For the rule of law to prevail, we must not take the laws into our hands’’, the SAN warned. ‘’In a civilized society, such as Nigeria, once a matter is pending before a court, parties should stay further extra-judicial actions and allow the sacred wisdom that flows from the temple of justice to guide their conducts.’’ Similarly, in a letter dated July 18, 2018 by a law firm, Ahmed Raji & Co on behalf of the Imo State Chairman of APC, Chief Hilary Eke, the national chairman of the party was also informed of the pending appeals and motion for stay of execution in the same suit. The letter signed by Ahmed Raji (SAN) on behalf of the law firm, averred that in the recent congresses of APC in Imo State, Chief Eke and those he represents were elected as party officers in different capacities at the local government areas and state levels.
He added, “The said election was recognised and accepted by the party. However, certain aggrieved members of the party instituted an action at the Federal High Court, Owerri Judicial Division (suit No. FHC/OW/CS/69/2018) to challenge the election, on the primary ground that it was inconclusive.’’ On his part, the immediate National Organising Secretary of APC, Senator Osita Izunaso through his lawyer, Chief Soronnadi A. Njoku, in a letter dated July 17, 2018, also informed the National Legal Adviser of the party about the pendency of motion for injunction pending appeal in the same suit.
He equally advised the party to respect the judicial process by not taking any step whatsoever in respect of the subject matter of the said suit until the matter is fully and final resolved by the court.

S-East Town Unions to Buhari: Stop killings or be voted out
ABA—ASSOCIATION of South East Town Unions, ASETU, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to stop the killings by armed herdsmen across the federation or be voted out by the electorate in the 2019 presidential election.
The Association recalled that insecurity was one of the key reasons Nigerians called for a change in the administration of the country in 2015 and urged President Buhari to justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorate. President Buhari It stated that it is the duty of the president to protect lives and properties of all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic and religious leanings and insisted that President Buhari as a Fulani man is the only one who can call the herdsmen to order.
In an interview with Vanguard in Aba, National President of ASETU, Chief Emeka Diwe, lamented that Nigeria has become a killing field, adding that never before had Nigerians felt unsafe and endangered than now. “ASETU urges President Buhari to rise to the occasion and stop the national turmoil that is tearing Nigeria apart with the reprehensible killings by armed herdsmen.
It is evident that the federal government has been treating the carnage being perpetrated by the armed herdsmen with levity. We view this as a test operation to enslave Christians in Nigeria and wipe out Ndigbo. The body language of the president is that he doesn’t want the killings to stop. “The only solution to the killings in Nigeria is for Buhari to call his kinsmen, the herdsmen, to order. If the president can’t call them to order, Nigerians should vote him out in 2019.
The primary reason for the existence of government is the welfare and security of lives of citizens.” VANGUARD

Boko Haram kills six traders in Nigeria ambush
Boko Haram fighters killed six traders when they ambushed a convoy of lorries under military escort in northeast Nigeria, a civilian militia member and a local resident said on Thursday. “Six traders were killed in an ambush by Boko Haram gunmen on Tuesday,” said Umar Kachalla, from the volunteer security force in Gamboru, a trading hub on Nigeria’s border with Cameroon.
The attack happened at about 6:00 pm (1700 GMT) at Mussini village, some 16 kilometres (10 miles) from Gamboru. Kachalla said the gunmen opened fire on the 23-strong convoy, forcing it to stop, then looted supplies and torched the vehicles.
“The poor state of the road makes it difficult for motorists to escape any ambush because they need to manoeuvre through deep and gaping potholes,” he added. Abubakar Yusuf, from Gamboru, passed the scene on Thursday morning. “I can see the trucks lined up.
They are all burnt. Nothing remains but heaps of ash from the goods,” he said. “It is true. Six people were killed in the ambush, including five men and one woman.
Attacks against traders have become frequent despite the military escorts.” AFP asked for confirmation and comment from Nigerian Army spokesman Brigadier General Texas Chukwu. In a text message, he said only: “Is not true.” Further questions about whether he meant the attack itself or the numbers involved went unanswered.
Nigeria’s government and military maintains that Boko Haram, whose insurgency has killed at least 20,000 people since 2009, is a spent force and on the verge of defeat.
It is now encouraging thousands of people displaced by the conflict to return to their homes from makeshift camps in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri. But international aid agencies working in the remote region say conditions are not right for mass returns, particularly in terms of security. Despite claims of free movement, civilian vehicles still require military escorts on roads into and out of Maiduguri because of fears of Boko Haram attacks.
Last weekend, jihadists ambushed troops in the Bama area of Borno and separately overran a military base in neighbouring Yobe. But the military rejected reports that dozens of troops were killed and told local people “their safety is guaranteed”, despite repeated attacks, raids and suicide bombings. In June, 43 people, including the recently returned displaced, were killed in a wave of suicide attacks in the town of Damboa.

2baba Finally Takes Action Against Blackface With N50 Million Lawsuit
The war between two of the members of the defunct Plantashun Boiz has taken a new turn as 2baba, one of the warring singers, filed a N50 Million law suite against Blackface.
Recall that Blackface accused his former band mate, 2baba, of stealing his compositions among which is African Queen and Let Somebody Love You. The controversial singer repeatedly called out 2baba in public, as a dubious and selfish artist. This accusations has been going on for long years with 2baba taking an hesitant approach to the issue.
The iconic singer has now reacted, turning the table on Blackface. 2baba and his manager, Efe Omoregbe, filed a N50 million lawsuit against Blackface, claiming he never wrote the aforementioned songs

Senate to probe Kachikwu over alleged irregularities in oil and gas
The Senate on Wednesday mandated its Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) to investigate issues relating to ongoing lease renewals in the oil and gas sector of the economy.
It is believed that process is being undertaken by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). The resolution followed consideration of a motion by Sen. Omotayo Alasoadura (APC Ondo) and three other senators.
The motion was entitled “Irregularities in Ongoing Oil and Gas Lease Renewal and Massive Loss of Government Revenue”. Leading debate on the motion, Alasoadura said that the Committee on Petroleum Resources had since December, 2017 been inundated with petitions and complaints over alleged multiplicity of irregularities surrounding the renewal of oil and gas leases.
He said there were also allegations that Kachikwu was granting illegal discounts and rebates in the exercise. Alasoadura added that “the action of the Minister of State is capable of short-changing the country and denying the Federation the appropriate revenue accruable from the renewal of the leases.
“The Minister and the Department of Petroleum Resources were proceeding to renew leases of companies that had brazenly and illegally refused to pay royalties from oil and gas lifted by the companies in contravention of extant laws. “Under the provision of extant laws, failure to pay royalties is a ground for revocation of leases and a legal barrier to renewal of applicable leases.
“There is a subsisting legal framework and due process mandated by extant law for the renewal of leases that are due,” he said. According to him, the alleged irregularities are capable of denying government revenue in excess of 10 billion dollars as a result of illegal discounts and rebates in the process of lease renewal.
The lawmaker said that efforts by the senate committee to engage DPR on the matter failed. According to him, the Department of Petroleum Resources wilfully and deliberately refused to provide the committee with relevant information and data related to the lease renewal.
“There is need to thoroughly investigate the lease renewal in view of the potentially alarming impact this will have on government in terms of loss of revenue accruable to the federation.”
In his contribution, Sen. Shehu Sani (APC- Kaduna) said that the motion was an indication of the rot in the oil and gas industry, adding that 10 billion dollars was huge revenue that the country could not afford to lose. “From the substance of this motion, it is very clear that the Minister of State has in every possible way been engaged in acts that contravene the law. “Over a year ago, he wrote an open letter raising issues about transparency and impunity in the oil sector.
“The issue of lease is something that has been on the front burner of national discourse in the last few weeks. “What this parliament can do is to once and for all bring the minister to make clarification on the actions he has taken as 10 billion dollars is no small amount of money. “I am of the belief that if we can get to the root of this matter, it will also open other cans of worm,” he said.
Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim (APC Kwara) stressed the need to expand the investigation. “The President is the Minister of Petroleum Resources, maybe that is why this motion is not mentioning the Minister of Petroleum Resources. “We are aware that the Minister of State ordinarily does not have the final approval for this type of case.
“There is a Board of NNPC and the Ministry and it is out there, though yet to be substantiated that the Chief of Staff to the President is a member of the board and is literally in charge of the board and the ministry. “I will just want the prayer to expand those to be called in the investigation.” In his remarks, Deputy President of the Senate, Mr Ike Ekweremadu, who presided at plenary, charged the committee to carry out thorough investigation on the issue.
He stressed the need for proper oversight by the committee, adding that “what matters most in cases like this is transparency in our oversight functions”.
Ekweremadu called on regulatory and enforcement agencies to discharge their responsibilities with a view to ensuring transparency in governance irrespective of those involved. (NAN)
Buhari’s Govt confused, has gotten to the end of its tethers – Obasanjo
ABUJA- FORMER President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Wednesday lampooned the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, saying that the government is at the moment confused in addressing the mirage of problems and challenges confronting Nigeria as a country, just as he warned that if serious action was not taken, they would be the death knell to the country’s democracy.
According to Obasanjo, the Buhari government has gotten to the end of its tethers and the nation at present is being left divisively and perilously to drift.
Speaking in Abuja as the Special Guest at a one- day Extra Ordinary Summit of Leaders and Elders of Nigeria convened by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Afenifere, Ohaeneze Ndigbo, Pan Niger Delta Forum, the former President while taking a swipe at the government, said that Nigeria, in recent times, has not been so divided along religious and regional lines as at today with what he termed, inexcusable killings and devastating poverty and with government’s wringing hands and apparently incompetent to stern the tide except giving one unrighteous and unacceptable justification after the other

Shock as undergraduate barks after spiritual cleansing by Alfa
A 29-year-old female student of the College of Education, Akoka, in Lagos, who visited a Muslim cleric, popularly known as Alfa, for spiritual help, is currently barking like a dog after undergoing cleansing in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Shock as undergraduate barks after spiritual cleansing by Alfa The Alfa, Mustapha Hammed, 23, who was subsequently arrested, admitted to have put a live frog in the water the undergraduate used to bathe during the cleansing process. Investigations by the Police further revealed that the suspect raped the student on discovering that she is a student.
Thereafter, he used a piece of cloth to wipe her private part. Parading the suspect before journalists at the command headquarters yesterday, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, said: “On July 12, a case of sexual assault by penetration was brought from Bariga Police Station to the Gender Section for further investigation. “The suspect, Mustapha Hammed, who claims to be an Alfa, was introduced to the survivor through a mutual friend. “The Alfa deceived the victim, saying he saw in a vision that she was going to die within 24 hours.
He took the girl to Ikorodu, Lagos, for cleansing so that she would not die. “At Ikorodu, he forcefully had canal knowledge of the girl who was a virgin and allegedly wiped off her blood with a white handkerchief. Since then her father alleged that the girl has been behaving abnormally because she was devastated and traumatised by the incident.” Confession The suspect admitted to have raped the victim, but denied wiping the blood with a cloth.
He said his girlfriend brought the victim to him for consultation and in the process, he decided to marry her. He said: “I told her (victim) that during divination, I saw that she had a spiritual husband. She confirmed it and said that had been the cause of her problem. I told her she would need to undergo spiritual cleansing in my house at Ikorodu. “When we got there, I instructed her to bathe and pray three times. After the first bath, I secretly put a live frog in her water. When she saw it, she ran out to inform me. “I told her it was a bad omen and that the only solution was for her to sleep with a man. I told her to call her boyfriend, but she said I should sleep with her since he was far away. “I did it because I love her and intend to marry her. But because she is my girlfriend’s friend, I couldn’t express my love for her. I did not clean the blood with a cloth.” The suspect, according to Edgal, will be charged to court. www.vanguardngr.com
PDP to Buhari, APC: rigged election election in Ekiti, does not mean acceptance by Nigerians
The PDP, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, and made available to newsmen on Monday evening also said that it found as strange that President Buhari “could not condemn the emasculation and subversion of the will of Ekiti people and the stealing of another party’s victory by brute force.”
According to the statement, “The PDP has also noted the unsavoury statements by the Presidency, celebrating the subjugation of Ekiti people as a stamp for President Buhari, wherein it further boasted of a triumph for the President in the 2019 general election.
If, for President Buhari and the APC, the subjugation of the people, as witnessed in Ekiti, amounts to an election, then the nation is headed to a serious crisis, as such will be resisted with all legitimate force available within our laws in the defence of our nation’s democracy.
The APC and INEC must note that what happened in Ekiti, as a single state, cannot be pulled through in a general election, especially where the people have made up their minds to seek a new president. Nigeria is too big and too complex to be subjugated by a single individual or group of individuals, as any attempt to do so will definitely consume the conspirators.
Moreover, while we are still pursuing the recovery of our stolen mandate in Ekiti, we state in very strong terms that this will be the last time the PDP will, under any circumstance whatsoever, allow itself to be manipulated out at the polls at any level. Finally, the PDP urges all our members and supporters to continue to remain calm over the daylight robbery that happened in Ekiti state, despite the provocations by the APC and the Presidency, as our leaders concert effort to ensure that justice is done,”Courtesy vanguardngr.com
